Zoom is one of the most popular cloud meeting app now a days. It is launched in 2011 and went to public from 2019 but not popular as today because now the worldwide is effected by Covid-19 and the whole world is temporarily lockdown. The management and some important meeting held online via zoom, because in this we can connect upto 100 users and video and voice sharing as well as screen sharing options is available in this app. Zoom says that it has 1 crore users till December 2019 but now till March 2020 it has crossed over 20 crore users.

But due to lots of trending and many anonymous users 50,000 account of zoom is hacked ,the hackers steal information of their Google data and all other important information.

Eric Yuan the founder and CEO of zoom has apologize for the security issues and wanted 90 days (3 months) to increase their security and privacy policy and resolve all the security issues.

A brief description by Washington web security is that the cloud meeting videos are stored and leaked in the cloud without any protection and can be accessed by anyone, and when they asked to the users about their meeting videos on internet then they also don't know about this.

The security expert Brian Krebs says that by 'Z war Dial' 100 meeting I'd were access that are not protected by password.

According to CERTin ( Computer Emergency Response Team of India) has decided not to use this app because we lose our sensitive information and we have also affected by cyberattack.
There are many problems regarding this app are:-
1. Facebook sharing
2. Not secured from end-to-end encryption even nowadays whatsapp follow this security.
3. Alleged webcam security.

Even Google and space X bans zoom for some security concerns. Because of some vulnerability as sharing data to Facebook etc.

Precautions during use of zoom app by CERTin

  • Update app regularly.
  • Use strong password.
  • Unique password for every meeting.
  • Enable waiting room feature.
  • Allow screen sharing to host only.
  • Restrict record features.
  • Restrict or disable the file transfer.
  • Lock meeting after all joins you wanted.
  • Disable join before host.
  • Administration/host haven't leave the meeting just.
